A day late, but fuck it – it's Spring Break!

Hey, all! Sorry about the delay, I've been enjoying my Spring Break, hence the lack of time to post. Hopefully this makes up for it? Okay, so I've spent the last month or so literally crying over how much I needed this break. See, I made the mistake of taking classes that all required immense amount of time (for reading, writing, documentary watching, going to events, etc.) in order to keep up with them. I didn't take a single throwaway class (BIG MISTAKE). In fact, I'll tell you right now which classes I took this semester:
Introduction to Sociology I
Phonetics
Writing for the Communications Media
Expository Writing
Mythology in Western Literature
This load of courses caused my usual anxiety levels to like triple to the point where I was sleeping for about 2 hours at a time at the most. It was horrible. My stress was eating me alive.Obviously, that all comes down to my clear fear of failure and disappointment. I talked about it in my last post; this is a theme that is very prevalent in my life – and it sucks. I'm really trying to work on leaving these feelings behind and finding a way to focus without relying on pressuring myself so much. There has to be a way to do that, right? Having said all that, you can imagine what a blessing this break has been. I've slept SO MUCH THANK GOD. And I've gotten to see friends. These last few days, I went on a mini 3 hour roadtrip (and I say 'mini' for your benefit, 'cause for me 3 hours is a hell of a lot of time - it's driving all the way to the other side of the Island!) to visit one of my best friends who's leaving for Basic Training next week. Spent almost four days being messy people – it was so much fun. Some of the things our little group got up to:
slept in bunk beds
bought cheap alcohol at Wal-Mart & draaank
sang Britney Spears, Lady Gaga & Rihanna songs like there was no tomorrow
met up with a dude met through Grindr
spent 3+ hours (from before midnight to after 3AM) in an empty shopping center parking lot stealing Wi-Fi (and waiting to get murdered, town was sketchy as fuck seriously)
went to a local college and got stared at (lol)
went to the local beach and hung out
ate at about every fast food in the town
took naps at the wrong time in the wrong places
Draaank
Saw the eclipse from a mountain!
Spilled our guts out about relationships and sex drama
'Twas fun ;) Other than that, I'm hoping to maybe get a beach day in and also go out one of these nights. Add to that the fact that I already have plans to stay over at my aunt's house and also *drum roll please* I have plans to see my WCIW collaborator/best friend Iyan when he comes to visit next week! :3 I am so excited about that and I promise new things for WCIW will come out from that visit. Ideas are already brewing. ;) (I've obviously got some school work I also need to get done - but not yet!) Anyway, this post was mostly me rambling about what I've been up to and what I hope to get up to before my break is over and the cruel reality I live in comes back. I promise to have more focused themes and topics next week. In the mean time, I hope you all enjoyed your breaks. I'm going back to enjoy mine. Have a good one! -SF
